Action Item (as stated with DEI strategic plan launch in 2016)
To provide resources for ongoing faculty development, the University of Michigan purchased a system-wide membership to the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), and joined a community of more than 225,000 faculty members, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students from 300+ colleges and universities. Participating U-M faculty, postdocs and graduate students at all three campuses (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint) have access to NCFDD’s on-campus workshops, online professional development training, and intensive mentoring programs.
DEI 1.0 Evaluation Update
During DEI 1.0, membership in NCFDD continued to grow on every University of Michigan campus. As of June 2022:
- UM-Ann Arbor reported 3,671 institutional members
- UM-Dearborn had 248 institutional members
- UM-Flint institutional membership had grown to 220
Also, for the past three years, UM-Ann Arbor has ranked #1 nationally in the number of minutes logged during NCFDD’s popular 14-day writing challenges, with 2,151 registrants. End-of-program surveys consistently indicate high levels of satisfaction among U-M members.
