Reflections

As a part of the DEI 1.0 evaluation year following the 5-year plan period, units conducted self-evaluations of their overall progress across the DEI 1.0 period, including reflections on accomplishments, challenges, and key lessons learned. The evaluation and assessment team analyzed units’ reflections and identified common themes that emerged across responses.

During the central evaluation process, the evaluation and assessment team analyzed units’ reflections on DEI 1.0 and identified common themes that emerged across responses.

Overall, units identified the following factors and tools as being crucial to the creation of an inclusive and equitable climate:

Consistent and transparent communication combined with opportunities for constituents to provide feedback
DEI skills training and assessment practices
The involvement and support of unit leadership to promote buy-in among constituents and ensure priority status for DEI efforts
